Many federal managers believe that it is impossible to discipline or fire a federal employee. The reality is that it is much easier than is commonly perceived. But, to assure success, a federal manager should be aware of basic rules, principles and guidelines to be followed in disciplining federal employees.
This course reviews the "efficiency of the service" standard and the rules and expectations about documentation to support an adverse action. Managers attending this course will also learn things to consider when deciding what to change and common faults that can derail the adverse action process. Managers will appreciate that it is not difficult or impossible to discipline a federal employee, but that it does take an awareness of the rules and that apply to the process.
